ِAfter almost a year and a half, the first phase of the Ajloun cable car project has been finalized on Saturday, June 13, at a cost of JD10 million.
The first phase included building take-off and landing stations as well as visitors service center.
The project was firstly initiated in January 2019 following Royal directives in hopes of reviving tourism in the governorate. However, the project was put on hold due to the coronavirus crisis.
Around 40 aerial conveyors are set to operate by the end of the project, which is only several meters away from the Ajloun castle. This requires leveling the land and preparing adequate infrastructure.
Ajlounees perceive the project as a tool to generate job opportunities as the unemployment rate in the governorate has reached around 19%.
