Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’ political leader and current chairman of their political bureau, stated that the latest “Israeli” amendments -which came after Hamas agreed to the terms- to the ceasefire proposal have put the negotiations at an impasse
Haniyeh added that the latest “Israeli” operation in Rafah has put the negotiations as a whole in an unknown fate – per his expression.

The Hamas Qatar-based chief said that the movement has positively engaged with the efforts of mediators in Egypt and Qatar to reach an agreement for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal.
“The resistance across all fronts in Gaza has inflicted losses on the enemy for the eighth month of the war, despite the imbalance of power,” Haniyeh continued, saying that all Palestinian resistance factions are working together to stop the war on the Gaza Strip.
“Hamas, along with the other Palestinian factions, will decide what happens with the day-after,” Haniyeh said, in response to the latest “Israeli” scuffles between their top officials on their post-war plans – which most notably happened between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Haniyeh reiterated Hamas’ stonewall position on the necessity of the withdrawal of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) entirely from the Gaza Strip as a prerequisite for reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Strip.
“We agree with Egypt on the necessity of the immediate withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Rafah crossing,” he added.
“The Israeli army has no right to interfere in the management of the Rafah Border Crossing,” he continued.
As today marks the 76th Nakba anniversary, Haniyeh said that “Operation Aqsa Typhoon” is a prelude to liberation and independence.
“The Palestinian cause remains strong in the consciousness of our people, our nation, and the free people of the world.”
