Preliminary investigations showed that the reason behind the fire in Ajloun was negligence, said the Ajloun Director of Agriculture Raed Al-Sharman Sunday.

Investigations, which started in the early hours of Sunday morning, found evidence that the cause of the fire was a farmer who lit a fire while harvesting olives.

Firefighters in Ajloun managed to extinguish the fires near Ajloun University College, Princess Aisha School and Arjan Saturay.

A source from the Civil Defense Department said the fire had spread due to strong winds and the presence of dry grass and weeds.
