London Mayor Sadiq Khan wins second term

London's Labor Mayor Sadiq Khan, who in 2016 became the first Muslim to head a municipality in a Western capital, won a second term in the elections that took place on Thursday, the results of which were published on Saturday.

Official results showed that Khan, 50, who was born to Pakistani immigrants and raised in a social housing, received 1.2 million votes, while his conservative rival, Sean Bailey, of Jamaican descent, received 977,601 votes. 

Ahead of the election, it was predicted that Khan would win by a large margin.
