The Jordanian Teachers Syndicate (JTS) monitored numerous violations related to the mass dismissal of teachers and the termination of their services prior to the ending of their contract on June 26, 2021, which also marks the end of the school year.

In press statements, JTS stated that the private school, located in Amman, terminated the services of 250 teachers at once, noting that some were given prior notice while others were effectively terminated.

The teachers submitted complaints to the Labor Ministry.

JTS said the contract is a legally binding document approved by the Labor Ministry and the unions of private education and private school owners, according to which the relationship between the two parties is organized, and the rights of teachers are guaranteed from infringement or violation, noting that, some school owners are not complying.

JTS valued the cooperation of the Ministries of Labor and Education in dealing with teachers’ complaints and dealing with them in accordance with regulations and laws, calling on private sector teachers not to accept any decisions issued by private school administrations, including infringement of their guaranteed rights, and to submit complaints to the Ministry of Labor in particular through the “Hemaya” platform.

In a previous statement, JTS confirmed that private sector teachers were subjected to many violations, which represented a transgression of their labor rights, such as arbitrary dismissal, unjustified salary deductions, assigning them to tasks that were not agreed upon, in addition to non-compliance with the permanence of rotation and the terms of the standard contract, tampering with participation of teachers with social security services, and the failure to adhere to the minimum wage.
