Man sentenced to six years in prison, fine of over $1.8m for replacing antique coins with fake ones

Tuesday, the Grand Criminal Court in Amman issued its decision in the case known as the “Jordan Antiquities Museum,” in which the accused in the case replaced antique coins with fake ones.

In its decision, the court sentenced the accused to six years in prison with temporary labor and a fine of more than USD 1.8 million, which equals the value of the stolen property. In addition to that, the perpetrator will pay judicial and administrative expenses.

The court lastly affirmed that the decision is subject to appeal.
