Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who won in a snap presidential election, swore in as Kazakhstan's president at an inauguration ceremony held Saturday.
Tokayev said, “I solemnly swear to faithfully serve the people of Kazakhstan, strictly follow the constitution and laws of Kazakhstan, guarantee the rights and freedoms of citizens, and faithfully perform the high duties of the president of Kazakhstan assigned to me.”
Re-elected for a second consecutive turn in a snap election, Tokayev won 81.31 percent of the vote.
