Eight Palestinian refugees in Syria, including three children, were killed by the recent earthquake that struck the region, announced Ambassador Ahmad Al-Deek, political adviser to the Palestinian foreign minister.

The earthquake had caused the deadly collapse of two buildings at Al-Raml Camp in Lattakia Governorate and a retaining wall at Al-Neirab Camp in Aleppo, said Al-Deek.

Eight survivors were rescued from the rubble.

He indicated that search-and-rescue operations are still underway for dozens of people trapped under the rubble.

Palestinian Ambassador to Syria Samir Al-Rifai is leading a crisis room to ensure the safety of Palestinians in the country. A delegation from the embassy also visited the area of operations.
