Tuesday, authorities said that those who wish to own dogs inside Amman must abide by the regulations stipulated in a Dog Control and Licensing System.
Dogs inside the capital must have a leash on them or any other identifying device approved by the Greater Amman Municipality, according to the system.
Those who wish to own a dog must also submit a written or electronic request to the Amman Greater Municipality (GAM) to obtain a possession license attached with a declaration that the dog does not constitute a threat to public safety and does not cause a disturbance to the neighbors.
Also, a valid health certificate is required to be attached to the dog, proving that it had received the required vaccinations, including the rabies vaccine.
It is also required to submit a non-objection form that bears the approval and signatures of the neighbors of those who own the dog.
This comes into effect today, May 16.
