A restaurant employee in New Mexico was arrested after mistakenly placing a bag of cocaine in a hot dog.

Española police released a statement indicating that Jeffrey David Salazar, 54, is now facing charges of possession of a controlled substance.

The incident came to light when a customer who purchased a meal from the popular restaurant discovered a plastic bag inside the food during their initial bite. Promptly recognizing the unusual item, the customer refrained from ingesting the bag and promptly reported it to the police.

Subsequent laboratory analysis confirmed that the substance found in the hot dog sandwich was indeed cocaine. Surveillance footage revealed the arrested employee preparing and delivering the meal, followed by a visibly distraught reaction as if he had misplaced something crucial.

Salazar confessed to the police that he had purchased cocaine in the restaurant's parking lot, but he had never meant to lose it in someone’s hot dog.
