The World Food Program (WFP) has confirmed that food, water, and electricity supplies in Gaza are on the verge of depletion due to the complete blockade imposed by the Israeli Occupation.
Earlier, the WFP announced the initiation of an emergency operation to provide food for over 800,000 individuals in Gaza and the West Bank, who are facing challenging conditions and lacking basic necessities such as food, water, and essential supplies.
The program urged the establishment of humanitarian corridors to facilitate the entry of aid and humanitarian assistance into Gaza, as well as to ensure a safe and unobstructed passage for its staff and essential goods.
In a statement released Tuesday, the program emphasized its urgent need to secure access and funding to support those in need. It stressed the requirement of approximately USD 17.3 million in the coming four weeks to address this critical situation.
The WFP, in collaboration with UNRWA, has distributed ready-to-eat food items to 73,000 displaced individuals in shelters in Gaza. This action comes amid concerns about the depletion of vital resources in the city, including food, water, and electricity, exacerbated by the severely damaged infrastructure affecting food production, supply networks, and distribution.
This situation calls for immediate and concerted efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and provide the necessary support for the affected populations in Gaza and the West Bank.
