The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Sufian Al-Qudah, stated that the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted, by a majority of votes, a draft resolution on the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip within the organization's mandate.

Qudah added in a press statement that the resolution calls for an immediate cessation of all attacks on Palestinians, especially children, women, youth, teachers and all those working in the field of education.

It also demands an end to attacks on Palestinian educational institutions and the cessation of harm to them.

According to the Foreign Ministry's statement, the resolution affirmed the Palestinians' right to education, urging respect for international law, international humanitarian law, and the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in Armed Conflict.

The resolution expressed deep concern about the interruption of water, electricity and humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

Qudah pointed out that the resolution emphasized the need for immediate measures to ensure the protection of cultural heritage in the Gaza Strip from further harm and damage in compliance with UNESCO conventions related to this matter.

The spokesman stated that the resolution presented by the Arab Group at UNESCO resulted from diplomatic efforts made by the Arab Group at UNESCO, and it was adopted by a majority of 96 votes out of 137 countries participating in the vote on the resolution.
