Eleven tons of medical supplies for the Gaza Strip have been delivered by France to the Egyptian Red Crescent at El-Arish airport.
The humanitarian aid was transported on board an A400M military aircraft from Orléans-Bricy airbase 123 to Egypt.
The French chargé d'affaires in Egypt, Raphael De Lagarde, said: "It's coming from a significant number of countries. There's French aid, European aid of course. It's coordinated by the Egyptian Red Crescent, which has its logistics center three kilometers from here, and I was there this afternoon. That's where they stock up, dispatch it in trucks and then send it to the Gaza Strip. "
Captain Brice, the flight commander, said: "We have cargo, mainly medical and food, materials for care and personal assistance. "
He continued saying: "What's interesting is that the terrain over there is a bit special, since we're just a few kilometers from the Gaza Strip and the conflict. We intervene with a tactical aircraft, so to speak, as the setting is a little unusual. Nevertheless, we're there to deliver the humanitarian message, bring our cargo and help the civilian population over there."
