The Grand Criminal Court of Amman has acquitted a young Jordanian man of a sexual assault charge against a Czech woman, citing the absence of conclusive evidence.

The court's prosecution had charged the defendant with the crime of sexual assault, according to the provisions of Article 296 of the Penal Code.

According to the details obtained by "Roya," announced in an open session, the complainant got acquainted with the defendant during her visit to Jordan, where he offered her free tea as a gesture of hospitality.

"The complainant and her partner accompanying her agreed to have dinner with the defendant out of hospitality. When they left, the defendant offered the lady a ride on a donkey behind him, moving her away from her partner,” according to the judgment.

"During a conversation between the complainant and the defendant, he expressed his admiration for her. She responded by saying she is committed to her partner and asked the young man to wait until her partner can join them.”

"The defendant continued moving quickly and asked the complainant to hug him from behind claiming that the weather is cold. Afterward, he got off from the donkey, gave the tourist a jacket, and asked her to wear it. He also asked her to sit in front of him on the donkey, intending to hold her, due to the steep road ahead of them."

The court’s decision revealed that "the complainant agreed to the defendant's request, and during that time, he hugged her from behind. She felt his breath was unnatural, and noticed something on his clothes. Prompting her to file a complaint after returning to the hotel."
