United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin held talks with the “Israeli” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Thursday evening, regarding the Israeli Occupation's military operation in Khan Yunis.

Austin emphasized to Gallant the necessity for a "credible plan to ensure the safety of and support for the more than one million people sheltering in Rafah before any military operations proceed there," according to the Pentagon.

The two also addressed ongoing efforts to secure the release of captives. Additionally, they discussed the necessity to enhance access to humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians.
