Jordan is forecasted to be increasingly affected by the Siberian High on Thursday and Friday - per ArabiaWeather.
The weather will generally be stable and cold during Thursday, with a noticeable activity in the southeast winds, which will increase the feeling of coldness. Meanwhile, the weather will be cold to very cold during the night and early morning hours of Friday.
It will be accompanied by dry and active southeast winds, with strong gusts at times, increasing the feeling of coldness and stirring up dust in western areas, including mountainous regions, the Shafa Ghor area, the Jordan Valley, and the Dead Sea. Some gusts may reach speeds of up to 75 km/h in some highlands.
ArabiaWeather warned swimming enthusiasts not to swim in the Dead Sea during the weekend for several reasons:
- The speed of the east winds increases as they descend from the mountainous regions towards the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.
- The waves will rise due to the activity of the east winds.
- The east winds will push swimmers towards the Palestinian side, making it difficult to return or leading to drowning.
- Due to the salinity of the Dead Sea water, high waves may cause water to enter swimmers' eyes, making swimming difficult or causing drowning.
- Therefore, attention is advised regarding the active east winds and the raised dust, as well as the extreme cold where temperatures will approach freezing, especially in the eastern parts of the kingdom. Safe use of heating methods is also recommended.
