After Donald Trump’s dominant Super Tuesday performance, former South Carolina Governor and US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, has suspended her 2024 presidential campaign and ceded the Republican nomination ticket to Trump - she announced in a speech in front of her supporters on Wednesday in Charleston, South Carolina.

Haley did not endorse Trump explicitly, but instead, said that “It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party who did not support him, and I hope he does…This is now his time for choosing.”

Haley lost 14 out of 15 Republican party primaries held on Super Tuesday, with her sole win coming in Vermont. Haley earlier won the Washington DC primary, making her the first woman in history to win a republican primary.

She secured 89 delegates compared to Donald’s Trump 995, with 1,215 being the number scored by a candidate to secure his party’s presidential nomination ticket.

Her drop out sets up a Trump-Biden rematch in November, as the incumbent president has swept all the 15 states in the Democratic primaries.
