A 6.3 magnitude earthquake -rated as “strong” on the richter scale- struck southwestern Japan on Wednesday night local time - according to the US Geological survey cited by Agence France-Presse.
No tsunami warning or reports of damage have been issued yet.
The epicenter of the quake was identified in a channel that separates the islands of Kyushu and Shikoku, about 18 kilometers (11 miles) west of Uwajima, at a depth of about 25 kilometers - per the US Geological survey.
