Tensions have heightened on American campuses as student protests against Israeli Occupation actions in Gaza and their support for Palestinians continue.

At Columbia University, students involved in a sit-in declared that they would persist until the university divests from investments in Tel Aviv. They demanded the complete withdrawal of investments from Israeli Occupation.

The Washington Post reported that conflicts between pro-Palestinian students and police are spreading across campuses throughout the United States.

The Islamic Affairs Council of America expressed concern over the arrest of numerous students by American police, stating, "The militarization of our educational institutions and the use of police force against peacefully protesting students is deeply troubling."

The council called on Columbia University's faculty and leadership to oppose any threat of deploying the National Guard.
