The Art Institute of Chicago reported that around 50 students and other individuals were arrested by US authorities during a protest in support of Palestine. The protest, aimed at expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, turned into clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement, resulting in arrests.
Those detained face charges related to public disturbance and involvement in riots, although details about their current legal situation were not provided.
Similarly, 25 demonstrators were arrested at the University of Virginia, where police used force to disperse the protesters expressing support for Palestine. This led to a worsening situation and increased protests on campus.
These incidents reflect a pattern of American security services suppressing freedom of expression and targeting those who speak out against Israeli Occupation aggression in Gaza. This includes students who organize sit-ins at various prestigious universities across the United States.
