Authorities have shut down a special education center for children in Irbid after a video surfaced earlier today of a member of the staff abusing a special needs child for failing to pronounce a letter correctly.

The video was posted mistakenly by the center itself on its social media pages -which were also shut down by authorities- and shows a teacher physically assaulting the child after not being able to complete one of the chores given by the teacher.
The video was captured with the intention of using it for promoting the center itself, but the staff have failed to cut out the parts where the teacher lashes out on the special needs child and physically assaults him.

The Juvenile and Family Protection Department is probing the teacher’s actions and the case has been referred to the judiciary.
A spokesperson from the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said that the Family Protection Department started its investigations into the video that has been circulating on social media and sparked massive controversy in Jordan.
The spokesperson stated that the child's identity was determined through investigations, and both the child and their guardian were summoned to the Family Protection Department.
