The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has announced that the country will join South Africa’s lawsuit at the International Court of Justice filed against “Israeli” accusing it of genocide.

The decision by Egypt “comes in light of the worsening severity and scope of Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, and the continued perpetration of systematic practices against the Palestinian people, including direct targeting of civilians and the destruction of infrastructure in the Strip, and pushing Palestinians to flee” – said the statement.
Egypt vehemently rejects receiving displaced Gazans on its territory and has repeatedly warned “Israel” of carrying out such a plan – as it could endanger the peace treaty between the two sides.
The announcement comes as the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) invaded last week the Palestinian side of the Rafah Border Crossing and shut it down in what seems to be a prelude of a larger wide-scale invasion of the city of Rafah.
The statement calls for the international community to push for a ceasefire in the Strip and an end to the ongoing invasion of the city of Rafah by the IOF.
