The Minister of Transport, Wajih Azayzeh, stressed Tuesday the importance of enhancing the efficiency and cleanliness of public transport, to ensure distinguished quality service and regular transport frequency for citizens.

Azayzeh stressed, during his chairing of a the meeting for the project to study the restructuring of public transport lines in the cities of Irbid and Zarqa, the necessity of efforts from all concerned authorities to complete the studies in order to provide a distinctive transport model that will be circulated to all cities of the Kingdom.

Those in charge of the project, which is being studied with support and funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), presented the project's goals, which are to establish new transport companies according to bus management models, and to provide buses with a modern design and high-quality service (in terms of reliability, speed of access, effectiveness and security), and the provision of an electronic payment system.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, heads of municipal committees, the director general of the Agency's Land Transport Regulatory Authority, and directors of technical directorates at the Ministry of Transport.
