The Minister of Transport, Wajeeh Al-Azayzeh said Saturday that he expects government measures to mitigate the impact of the rise in global freight wages on import costs and prices in the local market.
In a statement to Roya, the minister said that, within two days, recommendations will be made to reduce port fees and fees on the costs of shipping goods, to reduce the impact of the continued rise in global shipping costs.
He added that the measures that the government will announce will not contribute significantly to reducing costs for the merchant and consumer because the rise in global freight rates has nothing to do with Jordan, and is due to the shortage of containers globally.
