Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced Sunday that an agreement has been made with his Egyptian counterpart, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, to transfer 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip to Turkey.

Koca added that the transfer of cancer patients will be from Gaza through the Rafah border crossing to Egypt, and from there they will be transported to Turkey.

Abdel Ghaffar stated that Egypt has a large capacity to accommodate these patients, and the resources of the Egyptian state are available to handle all cases coming from Gaza.

He mentioned that Egypt receives between 40 to 50 injured individuals from Gaza for treatment on a daily basis.
