The Directorate of Operations and Control in the Public Security Directorate (PSD) responded to 20,000 emergency calls during the weather instability that affected Jordan.

The head of the division, Mohammed Abu Arabi, stated Tuesday that the directorate responded immediately and around the clock to numerous security, humanitarian and traffic reports.

He confirmed that the PSD raised its readiness and activated its plans for dealing with the unstable weather conditions, enabling it to respond to nearly 20,000 calls, resulting in approximately 6,500 reports being processed rapidly.

Abu Arabi pointed out that most of these reports focused on dealing with rescue, evacuation and assistance to residents of homes and vehicle users trapped by rainwater and floods, evacuating them to safe places.

He noted that the PSD had warned citizens of the weather instability ahead of time, calling on them to beware of flash floods and water accumulation.

Abu Arabi emphasized their readiness around the clock to receive any calls on the emergency hotline 911, urging citizens not to hesitate to seek assistance when necessary.

Jordan was affected by a third-degree low-pressure system (moderate to high intensity), which began Sunday afternoon until Monday evening, bringing heavy rain that increased the reservoirs' water capacity by about seven million cubic meters.
