Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf stated on Tuesday that without the recognition of the state of Palestine, there will be no two-state solution - in a letter sent to PM Rishi Sunak and the UK government.

“The Scottish Parliament will debate on Nov. 21 a Government motion which…calls for all parties to agree to an immediate ceasefire,” the letter wrote. “An immediate ceasefire is the only way in which the killing and suffering of innocent civilians can be brought to an end. I again call upon you to support an immediate ceasefire.”

Yousaf called for the need to exert pressure on the British government to change its policy and officially recognize the state of Palestine within the 1967 borders.

“I urge you to show the international leadership you claim for the UK by calling for an immediate ceasefire by all sides, and by announcing the UK Government’s recognition of the State of Palestine,” Yousaf concluded the letter.
