Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said today he is “optimistic” about the new proposal to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, as a delegation from Hamas is expected to arrive in Cairo on Monday for talks.

Shoukry said during his presence at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh on Monday, "We are optimistic," adding that "the proposal took into account the positions of both sides and sought to obtain moderation."

Earlier on Sunday, a senior Hamas official, who declined to be named, said that the movement will submit its response for the Gaza ceasefire to the mediators and the relevant parties tomorrow, Monday.

The official, cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP), stated that “A Hamas delegation headed by Khalil al-Hayya will arrive in Egypt [on Monday]... and deliver the movement's response” to the “Israeli” counter-proposal during a meeting with Egyptian intelligence officials.

"Hamas is open to discussing the new proposal positively," another Hamas source close to the negotiations told AFP.

The Israeli Occupation’s latest proposal includes a willingness to discuss the "restoration of sustainable calm" after prisoner exchange deal is reached - according to two “Israeli” officials cited by Axios.
