The Greater Amman Municipality has declared a “moderate state of emergency” starting Monday morning to deal with the relatively cold and humid air mass approaching Jordan.

In a statement released Sunday evening, the Municipality announced full readiness to handle any reports received by the Emergency Room in Tlaa Al-Ali.

Citizens were urged to contact the Unified Call Center numbers (102 and 117180) if any problems arise.

Precautions were advised, such as staying away from valleys and low-lying areas, avoiding connecting rooftop drains to sewer manholes to prevent flooding on roads, and refraining from indiscriminate waste disposal to prevent blocking rainwater drainage lines.

The Municipality also called for the inspection of submersible pumps in basements and commercial premises located below street level, and for traders to take precautionary measures when storing goods in warehouses and basements.

Contractors and construction project owners were urged to secure construction materials to prevent their displacement and direct impact on closing rainwater drainage lines.

Jordan gradually begins to be affected late at night by the low-pressure system accompanied by a relatively cold air mass, resulting in a noticeable drop in temperatures and occasional showers, starting gradually from the north of the kingdom, occasionally extending to parts of the central regions.
