Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh on Monday visited the bus rapid transit route and stations project between Amman and Zarqa. The inspection started from Al-Maslakh Intersection station in the capital and ended at the main station in Zarqa.
Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, the Mayor of Amman announced that the trial operation of the Amman-Zarqa bus rapid transit will commence on May 15.

The announcement came as the municipality received 48 "King Long" buses, with capacities ranging from 62 to 70 passengers, costing JD 7.584 million.
These buses are EUORD 5 diesel engines compliant and environmentally friendly and will operate on the rapid transit route between Amman and Zarqa.
Al-Shawarbeh stated that the expansion of public transport services continues within the municipal boundaries, noting that another tender for the purchase of 15 electric buses is set to be operational by the end of the year.
He added that the municipality has a clear strategy to enhance the efficiency of the public transport system in the city, following the royal directives, and pointed out that the bus rapid transit is one of the ways to elevate the public transport system and projects.
