US Central Command, known as CENTCOM, announced that the US military successfully intercepted and destroyed three drones launched by the Houthis over the Red Sea.
A statement posted on CENTCOM's account said that the coalition forces were unable to engage the drones, and there were no reports of casualties or damage to American, coalition, or commercial ships.
The statement clarified that between approximately 4:30 AM and 4:45 AM local time on May 11, US Central Command forces managed to destroy three drones launched by the Houthis from their controlled areas in Yemen, over the Red Sea. No casualties or damage were reported by US, coalition, or commercial vessels.
CENTCOM asserted that these drones represent a significant threat to both coalition forces and commercial ships in the region. The actions taken aim to safeguard the freedom of navigation and enhance the safety and security of international waters for US, coalition, and commercial vessels.
The Houthis have been targeting ships associated with the Israeli Occupation in response to their aggression against the Gaza Strip.
