The First Minister of Scotland Humza Yousaf declared Wednesday that Scotland is prepared to extend asylum to the people of Gaza.
Yousaf stated, "We have welcomed those from Syria, from Ukraine, and many other countries, and we must do so again."
He emphasized Scotland's willingness to take the lead within the UK in providing safety and sanctuary for those affected by the ongoing attacks.
In addition, he urged the international community to "commit to a worldwide refugee programme" to assist the one million individuals displaced within Gaza.
The people of Gaza are a proud people.

Many don't want to leave, and shouldn't have to.
But for those displaced, who want to leave, there should be a worldwide refugee scheme.

Yousaf shared a personal perspective, revealing, "My brother-in-law is a doctor in Gaza. When we can get through to him on the phone, he tells of the scenes of absolute carnage. Hospitals are running out of medical supplies, doctors, and nurses having to make the most difficult decision of all: who to treat and who to let die. That can't be allowed, not in this day and age.”
