In 2023, the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply issued a total of 78 violations and notices under the Consumer Protection Law, including 50 violations and 28 notifications.
According to the ministry's 2023 achievements report, there were 820 complaints received, with 345 related to after-sales services, 334 concerning defective goods or services, 79 about misleading advertisements, and 62 related to warranties and contracts.
The Jordan News Agency "Petra" reported that the ministry sent 120,000 educational and advisory messages to consumers via SMS.
The ministry achieved an average of 94.7 percent of its strategic goals for 2023, marking a 5.3 percent increase from 2022.
The efficiency of market monitoring and consumer protection mechanisms was raised to 99 percent in 2023, a 2 percent increase from the previous year.
Last year, the ministry launched 19 electronic services through the Sanad app, including issuing export licenses, a first-time importer card, and its modification, renewal, and cancellation.
Services were also launched for issuing import licenses for reinforced steel, white cement, flexible tubular vessels, aluminum containers, dual-use materials, used electrical appliances, Syrian goods, wheat, flour, used tires, aluminum profiles, as well as inquiries about sole proprietorships, inquiries by business purpose, and fee-related inquiries.
